Un-Plated Presents: A Zero-Proof Event

Nobody raises an eyebrow at the thought of a cocktail being thoughtfully crafted and utterly satisfying. But, throw the words “zero-proof” or “spirit-free” in and suddenly everyone recoils. Diners and drinkers associate the concept of a “mocktail” with overwhelming amounts of sugar and underwhelming levels of complexity. All that is changing thanks to a league of restaurants and beverage experts who believe that spirit-free beverages should be just as popular as their cocktail counterparts.
To celebrate this new and inclusive era of bar programs, Un-Plated hosted a one-night-only event with 11 of the best bars and restaurants in Washington DC. Guests will sample two spirit-free offerings from each participant while enjoying Chef Adam Greenberg’s (Coconut Club) renowned island fare. Think spam fried rice, jerk chicken skewers, kahlua pork, mac salad, and more! At the end of the evening, guests voted for their favorite beverage of the night.
15% of proceeds were donated to Ben’s Friends, an organization that aims to create a safe space for hospitality professionals to pursue and maintain sobriety.
